World Blood Donor Day: How to Participate
Five ways to take part on June 14 — camp optional.
As an individual
Donate if eligible, register on a donor platform if not due, and post why you donate — one personal post typically nudges two or three friends.
As a community
Host a mini registration drive after your service, shift meeting or class; ten minutes with a QR code is a legitimate donor-day event.
As an organisation
Publish your donor count, thank employee donors by name (with consent), and commit to a coverage goal for the year rather than a one-day photo op.
Frequently asked questions
Why June 14?
Karl Landsteiner's birthday — he discovered the ABO blood group system.
Do blood banks get crowded that day?
Often yes; registering to donate in the following weeks spreads supply when it's needed.
