What joining means

Registration is a starting point. Each request is a separate decision.

A donor profile

The information HelpALife uses to show you relevant requests.

An informed decision

Review each request’s details and consider whether you’re available.

A voluntary response

Registering doesn’t commit you to any request. You can always decide not to respond.

Registration and request matching do not confirm that you are medically eligible to donate.

Before you register

The form has three short stages. Here’s what it asks for.

Register as a Donor
  • Your blood group

Choose it accurately in the form.

  • Your area

Your area and how far you’re willing to travel.

  • Your contact details

The contact information the form asks for, plus the verification step available for your location, and how you’d prefer to be contacted.

  • Your availability

When you may be able to consider requests.

  • Donation history and consent

When you last donated, and a review of the participation and privacy information.

Your donor account

Sign in whenever you like to review requests and keep your details current.

  • Review requests near you.
  • Change your availability.
  • Review your contact and alert preferences.
  • See the requests you’ve responded to.
  • Update your profile and donation details.
There’s no need to respond right after registering. Notification options depend on the services enabled for your account.

How responding works

  1. Review the details

Check the donation location, timing, and request information.

  2. Consider your availability

Decide whether you can participate at the requested location.

  3. Confirm and consent

Follow the platform’s acceptance and contact-sharing steps.

  4. Coordinate next steps

Use the permitted contact details and follow the centre’s process.

Responding is an offer to coordinate — not confirmation of eligibility or a completed donation.

What happens at the donation centre

The hospital or donation centre explains its process, answers medical questions, and assesses whether you can donate.

  • Ask about its process and any documents it needs.
  • Discuss eligibility questions with its staff.
  • Follow its instructions before and after donation.

Your information and consent

Public discovery

Public donor discovery is area-based or aggregate. Personal phone numbers and exact personal locations are not publicly listed.

Reviewing a request

You see the information made available to your account. Protected requester contact needs authentication and explicit acceptance.

Choosing to respond

Your contact sharing follows the consent you give in the response process.

Questions, answered

Before you join.

Short answers about taking part as a donor.

Does registering mean I have to donate immediately?

No. You can review requests and decide whether you are available. Registration does not commit you to every request.

Do I need previous donation experience?

You can explore joining without having donated before. The hospital or donation centre assesses eligibility and explains its process.

What information will registration ask for?

The form asks for details such as your blood group, area, contact information, availability, donation history, and consent. Follow the verification options the form provides.

How will I find requests?

Review the request information available through HelpALife. Notification options depend on the services enabled for your account.

Can I choose not to respond?

Yes. Responding is voluntary. Review the information and decide whether you are available to help.

When are contact details shared?

Protected requester contact requires authentication and explicit acceptance. Sharing your own contact information follows the consent you give during the response process.

Does registration confirm I am medically eligible to donate?

No. The hospital or donation centre assesses medical eligibility before donation.

Can I update my availability or preferences?

Yes. Your donor dashboard lets you change your availability, and your settings let you update alert preferences, travel distance, and donation details.

What happens after I respond?

Follow the platform’s coordination steps and the hospital or donation centre’s instructions. A response is an offer to coordinate, not confirmation of a completed donation.

I already have a donor account. Where do I go?
